Matches
AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose (Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match)
Dean Ambrose challenges WWE World Champion AJ Styles at SmackDown LIVE’s next brand-exclusive pay-per-view, WWE TLC, on Dec. 4 in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match, and The Lunatic Fringe may just have James Ellsworth to thank for it.
The title match was officially announced by SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon on the Nov. 1 edition of Talking Smack, mere minutes after Ambrose defeated Styles in a non-title contest which stipulated that a victory would result in him becoming the No. 1 contender.
Though The Lunatic Fringe had been adamant that Ellsworth, who accidentally cost Ambrose a similar top-contender opportunity against Styles just one week before, stay far away from ringside, the lovable underdog couldn’t resist trying to make things right with Ambrose. Ellsworth may have defied Ambrose’s wishes, but his involvement nonetheless proved beneficial for the unhinged Superstar, paving the way for a big win over the WWE World Champion.
Now the stage is set for another highly anticipated showdown between The Lunatic Fringe and The Phenomenal One, this time in one of the most destructive matches imaginable: a TLC Match. The two Superstars have been at each other’s throats for months, and the intensity has only ratcheted up since Styles won the WWE World Title from Ambrose in September. What will happen once tables, ladders and chairs are involved?
Who will leave Dallas as SmackDown LIVE’s top dog? Can Styles fend off Ambrose’s relentless pursuit of the title, or will The Lunatic Fringe brawl his way back to championship glory? Find out at WWE TLC, which airs live on WWE Network Sunday, Dec. 4, at 8 ET/5 PT.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss (Tables Match)
Alexa Bliss will get her SmackDown Women’s Championship rematch at WWE TLC Sunday, Dec. 4, on WWE Network, when she challenges Becky Lynch for the coveted title in a Tables Match.
The self-proclaimed “Wicked Witch of WWE” will be looking to exact revenge on the titleholder after a rollercoaster couple months that has seen her previous attempts to capture the SmackDown Women’s Title thwarted.
Bliss initially was supposed to challenge The Irish Lass Kicker for the title at WWE No Mercy, but due to Lynch being unable to compete, Bliss was left without a title opportunity. Instead, the fiery Bliss was given a chance to battle the champion at SmackDown LIVE’s Glasgow event.
The two fierce foes fought in an intense clash, but it ended in controversy after the referee didn’t see Bliss’ foot under the rope before she tapped out to Lynch’s Dis-Arm-Her submission. This did not sit well with an irate Bliss, who was more determined than ever to claim the SmackDown LIVE Women’s Championship. They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but even hell would be a welcome destination compared to being on the receiving end of Bliss’ venom.
Despite Bliss unleashing her inner witch, Lynch showed no fear, granting Bliss her rematch at WWE TLC. The titleholder even accepted Bliss’ Tables Match stipulation after their contract signing ended with The Irish Lass Kicker crashing through a table. Now, whichever competitor puts their opponent through a table first will walk out of Dallas as the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Will Lynch be able to triumph over Bliss and continue her impressive reign atop SmackDown’s Women’s division? Or will the “Wicked Witch of WWE” seize the coveted SmackDown Women’s Title at WWE TLC?
Don’t miss this epic rematch on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT, exclusively on the award-winning WWE Network.
Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler (Ladder Match)
At WWE TLC, Intercontinental Champion The Miz will step into battle against longstanding adversary Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder Match. However, if Ziggler falls short this time around, it will be the last time The A-Lister will have to face him for his illustrious title — as if the stakes weren’t high enough already!
Not only can’t the two Cleveland natives stand each other, but they both have a tremendous love for the title itself, with Miz currently on his sixth reign as Intercontinental Champion and Ziggler having held it five times.
Despite the fact both Superstars are well-versed in the prizes and pitfalls of a Ladder Match, there is truly no way to prepare for the dangerous rungs. Yet, the X factor of this contest will be Maryse. The Miz’s crafty wife has helped him win several matches, including against The Showoff the title on the 900th episode for SmackDown and against Sami Zayn at Survivor Series. Ziggler will need to find a way to neutralize her, or he may not stand much chance of regaining the championship.
Who will walk out of WWE TLC with the Intercontinental Title? Find out Sunday, Dec. 4, on the award-winning WWE Network.
Nikki Bella vs. Carmella (No Disqualification Match)
Looking to end her rivalry with Carmella once and for all, Nikki Bella has successfully petitioned to face The Princess of Staten Island in a No Disqualification Match at WWE TLC.
The rules will be thrown out the window Sunday, Dec. 4, leaving the bitter foes to settle their grudge in one of the most lawless matches imaginable. Such extreme circumstances speak to the uncontrollable hostility that exists between the two Superstars.
Since Nikki’s triumphant return in August from a career-threatening neck injury, Carmella has repeatedly attacked and belittled the fearless former Divas Champion. The Fabulous Superstar has even gone so far as to say the only reason for Bella’s success in WWE is her relationship with John Cena.
Things hit a tipping point at Survivor Series when a mystery attacker took out Nikki prior to the Raw vs. SmackDown LIVE 5-on-5 Traditional Women’s Elimination Match. Though Nikki was unable to positively identify her assailant, she accused Carmella of being responsible for the blitz. Carmella denies any wrongdoing — in this instance, at least — but it doesn’t change the fact she and Nikki are headed for a collision course at WWE TLC.
Watch WWE’s version of a demolition derby, WWE TLC 2016, when it airs live on the award-winning WWE Network Sunday, Dec. 4, at 8 ET/5 PT.
Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin (Chairs Match)
After months of animosity and blindside attacks, Baron Corbin and Kalisto will attempt to take out all their pent-up aggression on one another in a Chairs Match at the SmackDown LIVE exclusive event, WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs.
The issue between Kalisto and Corbin began months ago when Corbin’s aggressiveness put Kalisto on the shelf. However, when the high-flying Superstar returned several weeks ago, he was able to return the favor by targeting Corbin’s knee in a match on SmackDown LIVE.
This led to a series of hostile, and costly, exchanges between the two, including The Lone Wolf costing Kalisto (and SmackDown LIVE) the Cruiserweight Championship (and Cruiserweight division) at Survivor Series, and Kalisto interjecting himself in Corbin’s match against Kane on SmackDown LIVE.
This ever-evolving rivalry will now enter its next phase when the two face off in a Chairs Match at WWE TLC. Will Corbin’s size give him an extreme advantage over Kalisto? Or will the unforgiving steel even the odds for the always exciting high-flyer?
Find out at WWE TLC 2016, exclusively on WWE Network Sunday, Dec. 4, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton
With Randy Orton fortifying its ranks, The Wyatt Family may be more dangerous than ever before, and that could spell trouble for SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno. Alongside the family mastermind Bray Wyatt, The Viper will challenge the popular titleholders this Sunday at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, live on WWE Network.
Orton & Wyatt earned the opportunity by defeating American Alpha on the Nov. 29 edition of SmackDown LIVE. Now that Orton & Wyatt have downed Gable & Jordan, the powerful duo sets its gaze on Slater & Rhyno.
In a short amount of time, Wyatt & Orton have shown their partnership to be potent and, perhaps, unbreakable. Orton even sacrificed himself for Wyatt during the 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match between Raw and SmackDown LIVE, shoving The Eater of Worlds out of the way of a Roman Reigns Spear. Though The Viper ended up suffering the blow, he also proved his loyalty to the Wyatt Family mastermind in the process.
Slater & Rhyno, meanwhile, share a similarly unique bond. Since forming their alliance, the champions have overcome the odds time and time again, proving doubters wrong one match after another. Though The One-Man Band has admitted The Wyatts give him “the heebie-jeebies,” Slater appears emboldened by The Man-Beast’s fearlessness.
Can Rhyno convince Slater to stay strong against two of SmackDown LIVE’s most vicious Superstars? Or will the new era of The Wyatt Family prove to be too much for the champions? And what role might the ever-threatening Luke Harper play in this Sunday’s contest?
Watch SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno try to fend off the challenge of The Wyatt Family this Sunday when WWE TLC airs live on the award-winning WWE Network at 8 ET/5 PT.
